Oakland Aviation Museum. Alameda Crown Memorial Beach. The Crown Memorial Beach is a 2-mile long beach in Alameda offering a variety of free attractions for visitors, including a walking and biking path along the water, picnic facilities, tennis courts, baseball fields, a playground, and a bird sanctuary. Sailboat rentals are also available. The Alameda Parks Department hosts an annual sand castle contest at the beach in June.

Lake Chabot. Lake Chabot is a 315-acre lake in the heart of Castro Valley. With miles of parkland, hiking trails, fantastic lake fishing, and a marina offering a bait shop, boat rentals and a cafe, Lake Chabot is the perfect place to spend a relaxing day with friends or family. Hayward Executive Airport. Built in 1942 for use as a WWII fighter base, the Hayward Executive Airport covers 543 acres and has two operating runways. Hayward Japanese Gardens. Home of the agricultural studies program at Hayward High School from 1913 to 1962, the Hayward Japanese Gardens was the first Japanese garden in California to apply the principles of traditional Japanese Gardening using rocks, stone, trees, and plants native to California.
